Program Overview: This presentation explores how HR professionals play a pivotal role in insider threat management by addressing the human factors behind security incidents and partnering closely with security teams to reduce organizational risk. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of the modern insider threat landscape—including malicious, accidental, and third‑party risks—and learn how HR’s visibility into behavior, culture, and workforce dynamics uniquely positions them as the first line of defense. The presentation covers practical strategies across the employee lifecycle, from pre‑employment screening and secure onboarding to ongoing engagement, early detection of behavioral indicators, coordinated incident response, and secure offboarding. Real‑world case studies from the technology, healthcare, and government sectors illustrate how missed red flags can lead to data breaches, sabotage, or privacy violations—and how effective HR involvement could have prevented or mitigated these events. The session concludes with actionable best practices and guidance based on established industry frameworks, empowering HR leaders to strengthen cross‑functional insider threat programs and build a security‑focused culture that protects both employees and the organization.
